Shiraz University of Medical Sciences has begun building a formal channel to attract Iranian specialists and technology experts residing abroad. In a joint session between the Offices of Vice Chancellors for International Affairs and Research, the university reviewed its existing capacities and outlined how these professionals could be recruited, in response to a request coordinated through the Organization for Development of International Cooperation in Science and Technology (ODISTC), under the Vice Presidency for Science, Technology and the Knowledge-Based Economy, and the National Elites Foundation of Fars province.

Participants examined practical ways to identify and introduce Iranian experts overseas and to draw on their expertise in health research and technology. The discussions emphasized preparing accurate and complete information on the university’s capabilities, infrastructure, and research needs, while developing durable communication channels so that international experience can strengthen the institution’s scientific and technological standing.

The proposed collaboration was structured around three main pillars: supporting specialized lectures and workshops, hosting postdoctoral researchers, and assisting technology investors. To participate, the institution must complete the required administrative steps on both the "Service" and "Connect" platforms to formalize the agreement and register its profile. To facilitate this process, ODISTC has pledged financial support to advance these joint projects and recruitment efforts, with all stakeholders agreeing to translate the meeting's outcomes into concrete, actionable programs.
