Year founded: 2012

The Nanomedicine and Nanobiology Research Center started its activities at Shiraz University of Medical Sciences in 2012 with the aim of expanding teaching and research and to meet the needs of the Iranian medical society. The center finally received an acceptance, in principle, in March 2015 from the Iranian Ministry of Health and Medical Education.

The main mission of the Nanomedicine and Nanobiology Research Center is conducting research, expanding applied nanotechnology in biology and medicine, holding training courses and giving consultations about nanotechnology.

Research priorities

1.Diagnosis in medical nanotechnology

  • Sensors and biosensors with nanotechnology to identify bacteria, fungi and viruses
  • Geo-sensors
  • Aptasensors
  • Immunosensors
  • Producing nanomaterials for medical imaging and diagnosis

2.Treatment and prevention in medical nanotechnology

  • Making nanomaterials for thermotherapy
  • Natural nanomaterial for application in medicine and Theranostic systems
