Cardiovascular (heart) Surgery is surgery on the heart or great vessels performed by cardiac surgeons. Frequently, it is done to treat complications of ischemic heart disease (for example, coronary artery bypass grafting), correct congenital heart disease, or treat valvular heart disease from various causes including endocarditis, rheumatic heart disease and atherosclerosis. It also includes heart transplantation.
Cardiovascular Surgery is a program in which its graduates, who are specialists in general surgery, will be involved in the diagnosis and treatment of valvular heart disease, aortic disease, coronary artery disease, congenital heart diseases and the other illnesses that lead to cardiovascular complications and requiring surgical intervention after at least 3 years of specialized training.
