Biography
Dr. Samad Ahadian is an Assistant Professor at the Terasaki Institute for Biomedical Innovation at University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Before holding this position, he was working as a development engineer at the Department of Bioengineering, UCLA. His research extensively focuses on skeletal muscle tissue engineering, cardiac tissue regeneration, nano-biomaterials, hydrogels, and antimicrobial materials. After receiving his Ph.D. in Materials Science from Tohoku University (Japan), Dr. Ahadian worked as a Postdoctoral Research Associate and then an Assistant Professor at the same University. Immediately after, he took two other positions as a Research Fellow at the University of Toronto (Canada) and as a Biomaterials Scientist at Covalon Technologies Ltd., Canada before he started his career at UCLA.

Previous Academic Collaborations with SUMS:
Dr. Ahadian has done a collaborative with SUMS Stem Cell Technology Research Center on the extraction of mesenchymal stem cells from dental pulp and their functional assessment in tissue regeneration in animal models. He was also invited to SUMS to deliver two lectures and hold two workshops in the field of tissue engineering and regenerative medicine
