SUMS Holds 6th Orientation Program for International Students
Shiraz University of Medical Sciences (SUMS) launched its 6th orientation program for incoming students of International Education Program (IEP). The two-day event was organized by the University’s Office of Vice-Chancellor for Global Strategies and International Affairs (GSIA).
In his welcome speech, Dr. Mahmood Nejabat, the Senior Advisor to SUMS Chancellor, provided an overview of the University’s national and international status, followed by an account of the admission process for international applicants.
Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Seyed Hassan Seradj, SUMS Vice-Chancellor for Global Strategies and International Affairs, announced that over 1000 applications from 42 countries had submitted applications on the University’s online registration system, of which 70 were admitted to the program.
In his address to the audience, Dr. Seyed Mohammad Shafiei, Vice Dean for Education at SUMS School of Medicine, expounded on the offered courses and programs, and the University’s rules and regulations. Dr. Amir Yousef Farahmandi, the director of the English Language Department, also spoke about the language courses and the prerequisites for learning English and Persian.
On the second day of the program, the IEP students went on a city tour visiting a number of cultural, religious and historical landmarks.
